Independent Study began with a simple observation: that most of us aren’t lacking creativity—we’re lacking the time, space, and conditions that allow it to surface.

A Note from Megan

Life these days has a way of pulling us away from our creativity. So how do we fill the well when it’s empty?

My background spans fashion design, retail, fine arts, creative direction, and curation. For years, I worked in the fashion industry and loved it for its beauty, craftsmanship, and sense of possibility. I’ve always been drawn to the unique, the out-of-the-way, the thoughtfully made, special things that carry a distinct point of view, whether a garment, an object, or a beautifully designed space.

I’ve also experienced burnout more times than I’d like to admit. There were periods when I felt disconnected from my own creativity, absorbed by external demands that steadily pulled me away from inspiration rather than toward it. Over time, I began gathering tools and practices that helped me reconnect—with myself, my intuition, and the deeper rhythms of a creative life. Independent Study grew out of that process.

Through retreats, workshops, courses, and guided experiences, Independent Study is designed to create space: space to slow down, pay attention, reconnect with your inner world, and engage with creativity without pressure or performance. Sometimes that looks like the nourishment of a Reset Ritual. Sometimes it means exploring shadow work to move through creative blocks, or developing a deeper understanding of your own process. And sometimes it’s as simple and transformative as spending a week making art in a beautiful place alongside like-minded women.

At its heart, Independent Study is an invitation: to pause, to explore, and to rediscover the creative voice that has been there all along.
